Forlì Airport

Forlì Airport

Forlì Airport, dedicated to the Italian aviator Luigi Ridolfi and inaugurated on 19 September 1936, was built in the 1930s with a military destination, as is the case for many other airports on the national territory. Its strategic and central position between Fiumicino and Malpensa make it a health airport for the transport of goods, food and live animals.
Together with the “Francesco Baracca” State Aeronautical Technical Institute, the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering of the University of Bologna, the ENAV Academy and the Flight Professione Volare Training Center, it constitutes the Aeronautical Technological Center of Forlì.
In the years of the Cold War it represented the only airport on the Romagna Riviera by the airline of the Warsaw Pact countries (including Aeroflot, Tarom, CSA and LOT). Starting from 2000 to the end of 2010 if they successfully integrated into the low cost airline market, but following the transfer of low cost flights to Bologna by Ryanair and Wizz Air they ceased commercial activity, closing in March 2013. On 29 October 2020, after seven years, the Ridolfi Airport reopened under the management of FA (Forlì Airport).
