Corpus Domini Church and Monastery

Corpus Domini Church and Monastery

In front of the cathedral there is the architectural complex of the Corpus Domini Church and Monastery. On the place where the Corpus Domini church stands today, there used to be the oratory and headquarters of the lay confraternity of the Battuti Neri. After the earthquake of 1786, the buildings were completely reconstructed by Carlo Santini, an architect from Ticino, and the master builder Tommaso Righini. Today the cloistered nuns are based in the monastery. The church of Addolorata is connected to the monastery by an underground passage.
