"Melozzo degli Ambrogi" Civic Art Gallery

The art gallery originated in 1838, with headquarters in Palazzo della Missione, when the works of art that remained in Forlì after the Napoleonic suppressions were gathered in the Public Library.
Subsequent increases were had for purchases and donations. In 1922, the Art Gallery and Museums were transferred to the current location, built in 1722 as the Hospital of the House of God, based on a project by Giuseppe Merenda. Today in the central hall are located large canvases by Albani, Sacchi, Cagnacci, Guercino, Maratta and Cignani. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Museum is temporarily closed due to renovations. We would like to inform our visitors that Palazzo del Merenda is currently closed to the public due to extensive renovation works. In the meantime, five outstanding works from our Civic Collections are on display in the exhibition "Guercino, a New Look" - Cento (FE). We invite you to discover these masterpieces and other art treasures by visiting the page dedicated to the exhibition at the following link: Guercino, un nuovo sguardo – Cento (FE)
